Restorative Dentistry

Think of Wurzbach Parkway Family Dental as your smile architect.  We specialize in restoring your smile through the reconstruction and replacement of your teeth.

If you answer “yes” to any of the questions below, restorative dentistry may be right for you.

Are you missing teeth due to an accident?
Do you have extensive tooth decay which has eroded your tooth structure?
Do you have fillings that are defective or not aesthetically pleasing?

Using cutting-edge techniques, we provide the best possible treatments for our patients including crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays.  We can create restorations in a single dentist visit using CEREC 3D technology.  A high definition camera takes a 3-D photo of your tooth.  A 3-D computer aided design is created from the photo and sent to a machine which creates a precise restoration of your tooth. To deliver a natural-looking result, restorations are made of a high grade, tooth-colored ceramic material that blends in with the other teeth in your mouth.  After crowns, inlays or onlays, the restored tooth is strengthened and has up to 50% more chewing force.

Crowns

Think of crowns as a hat or cap that fits as a cover over the top of your teeth.  They are designed to protect and strengthen your existing tooth structure. Crowns are often necessary when a patient has:

Worn down fillings
Chipped, fractured teeth
Teeth damaged by extensive decay
A root canal

Bridges

If you are missing a tooth or teeth, a bridge is designed to fill in the missing gap.  A false tooth (or teeth) is attached between two crowns to help hold it in place.   Bridges can last up to 10 years or more.

Onlays

Similar to a crown, onlays are restorations that cover the sides of your tooth to provide better protection and improved strength.

Inlays

Inlays are used to restore a tooth’s structure that has been decayed or damaged within the cusp tips of a tooth.
