This sand snob found a brand new favorite in grand cayman villa rentals. Not being divers I wasn`t sure what my loved ones would do on a recent visit to Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman is flat, over developed, expensive (everything is imported), certainly not my cup of tea. Or so I thought.
Being a travel professional I often feel pressured to view and do whenever you can. Afterall, our greatest tool for planning exceptional escapes is our first hand experience. Sometimes I run around so much that I seem like I need a trip from my vacation! On Grand Cayman I could like a guilt-free beach holiday. After 2-three days of studying the island, I needed pretty much seen everything so could enjoy the rest of my time soaking the sun with the family.
We spent the initial few nights at Coral Stone Club. A tiny, independently owned condominium complex on Seven Mile Beach (SMB) with 32 three bedroom, 3 bath units accessible to rent every day. Based in three, three-story buildings, all these 1800 sq . ft . units have the identical layout and offer views of the ocean. Some things to adopt note as these units are common individually owned you`ll obtain the dcor, bedding and kitchen amenities vary. Unlike some of the larger condo complexes here, you may select and book a specific unit at Coral Stone Club. For families with small children I would suggest deciding on a bottom floor unit. We found this incredibly helpful when our young son was getting a nap, I was able to still sit on our terrace using a book, begin to see the ocean yet still be within earshot. For anyone looking for a quieter location, decide on a top floor unit that contain vaulted ceilings and unobstructed ocean views. This really is a true self-catering condo complex and the staff is virtually non-existent. Once we arrived over a Saturday among the housekeepers let us from the unit with all the instructions to confirm-in in the desk on Monday. I also didn`t get the staff in front desk all of the insightful once i asked for their personal suggestions about things to see & do. Keep in mind though that almost all people staying listed below are either owners or vacationers which were coming for years. Hanging out through the pool will be the course of action from the afternoon as the owners combine like long-lost friends and welcome us new timers. Those are the real wealth of information with insider tips on points to see and experience when in Grand Cayman. We stayed in unit # 5 which we found to be really cozy and well-appointed. You can tell the owners are here frequently because there was every kitchen utensil and gadget imaginable available. You might find it odd which i was so impressed with this however if you`re just like me someone who frequently stays in cayman or private homes with extended family you`ll appreciate that. We also appreciated the screened in porch and spent time and effort here enjoying meals and playing video games. The grocery store is across the road within walking distance and you will you may want to bring the cart straight back to the unit. The store will be sending staff later inside the day to collect the carts from the neighboring condo properties. The actual highlight here I feel may be the beach. Coral Stone Club enjoys a very wide, clear area of beach with just the right balance of natural tree shade and beach loungers. I would personally recommend a stay in Coral Stone Club within a heartbeat for families looking for the best upscale-yet-down-home beachfront vacation. This might be also an incredible position for 2-3 couples to share with you a unit and revel in a soothing holiday. Rates start at $695 per night. Plan your visit during the summer months and receive your 6th night free!
Our next stop was the Caribbean Club just a few doors down. If you`ve been to Grand Cayman you may recall the Caribbean Club of old which was comprised of several cozy beach and garden cottages. After hurricane Ivan the new owners completely tore down and rebuilt three luxurious towers bringing a whole new degree of luxury to SMB. Having spent several days at Coral Stone Club where I felt the accommodations were already quite nice, I have done not expect the opulence of Caribbean Club. Separated into three towers that happen to be in U shape facing the ocean, all units are huge at 2500 sq ft with three bedrooms and three baths and incredibly richly appointed. Caribbean Club operates similar to a hotel in that they actually do have full staff with daily maid service, concierge and room service available. Their on-site restaurant and bar Ristorante Luca serves up a delectable mixture of Italian cuisine and fresh seafood and is a great location to enjoy music from the evenings. All the units are individually owned and decorated and feature a huge verandah facing either the pool or ocean. Due to the layout of the property should you be in a pool view unit, expect to be right on top of other people. Little privacy available here when all units basically face the other. The soil floor ocean front villa suites are particularly fantastic while you literally walk 4 steps off the verandah and have your toes within the sand. Our particular unit was very luxurious however, not as personalized or that child friendly (think glass tables and lots of breakables). Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Caribbean Club and i also would recommend this property for people 80dexapky with older kids, teens or several couples looking for luxury accommodations with much more options in the way of dining and entertainment. Rates start at $650 per night in low season for a Tower ocean suite.
Yet another excellent option is the greater number of moderate Lacovia complex in lower SMB. Even closer to George Town, this complex resembles a greater portion of an apartment building with ample parking, the garden pool in the middle of the complex and a range of accommodations from 1-2 bedroom units with either garden, pool or ocean views. Each unit is individually owned and decorated with a few units very moderate and updated and others`not a lot. Each unit we saw was very clean, comfortable and included each of the amenities one would expect of your rental. Exactly what makes Lacovia such an appealing option I believe will be the quiet atmosphere, fantastic beachfront location and price. One bedroom units start only $290 per night in low season which for this quality of accommodation in Grand Cayman is an excellent deal. Great selection for couples, families or single travelers searching for a spot to escape it all.
Also worth mentioning is definitely the contact southbaybeachclub.com. The only real five diamond resort about the island and the best option should you be looking for any full service resort. With consistent Ritz Carlton services and amenities this resort delivers a full service spa (consistently ranked inside the top 2 from the Caribbean) and a lot of the best restaurants about the island. Even though you don`t stay at the Ritz, make plans for dinner at 7 Prime Cuts & Sunset or BLUE by Eric Ripert which provides fine dining as well as a romantic atmosphere. You should note that the key hotel is located across the street in the beach when you book garden or resort view rooms, you`ll have to walk for the beach by using their air bridge. They do come with an oceanfront tower right on the beach which can be a few things i would recommend in case your budget allows. This is the smartest choice for honeymooners looking for luxury. Rates start at $299 per night in low season with 5th night free. Oceanfront rooms start at $579 per night.
